Nimbu vs Webflow

Webflow is a design tool.
Nimbu is a platform.

When a client build needs a real shop, twelve locales, or a clean answer about where data lives, a design canvas runs out of room. Nimbu is the platform that takes over: native commerce, built-in multilingual, Git-based Liquid, and EU jurisdiction.

Commerce that doesn't need a second platform

Webflow Ecommerce covers simple catalogs. Once a client needs serious product logic, the common path is a Shopify integration alongside the Webflow site. Two systems, two dashboards, two places where a launch can break.

Nimbu's commerce is part of the platform. Products carry variants and pricing schemes. Orders run on a 13-state machine. Coupons, gift cards, customer groups, and checkout profiles are built in. European gateways are first-class: Mollie, Stripe, MultiSafepay, PayPal, and Adyen.

  • Variants and pricing schemes Per-customer group pricing and complex product logic included.
  • 13-state order machine Formal order lifecycle, gift cards, coupons and redemption ledger.
  • EU payment gateways first-class Mollie, Stripe, MultiSafepay, PayPal, Adyen and more.

Built-in multilingual, not a metered add-on

Webflow's localization is a paid add-on priced by locale, and it handles translated content rather than a translated catalog with locale-aware pricing and checkout. For a Belgian, Swiss, or pan-European client, that ceiling shows up early.

Multilingual is native in Nimbu. Around 40 content locales, translated products, pricing, and checkout, and language-aware Elasticsearch so search returns results in the right language.

  • Around 40 content locales Translated pages, products, and checkout, all native.
  • Language-aware search Elasticsearch returns results in the right language automatically.
  • No per-locale pricing One flat cost covers all locales your clients need.

Developer handoff

A handoff that lives in Git, not in a canvas

Webflow's source of truth is a hosted canvas behind a seat. Code export is partial and one-way. Developers work around the tool instead of using branches, diffs, review, and CI.

Nimbu themes are Git-based Liquid with no build step and no framework upgrade cycle. If your team knows Shopify Liquid, they're productive on day one. 76 Liquid Drops expose the full domain and 20+ custom tags cover what content sites need. A theme you wrote three years ago still deploys today.

  • Git-based Liquid themes Version control, branches, diffs, and CI like any codebase.
  • No build step, no framework churn Themes written three years ago still deploy today.
  • CLI + open agent skill The nimbu CLI ships for Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and 35+ agents.

A data answer you can put in the proposal

Webflow is a US company on US AWS. That's fine for many marketing sites. It becomes a real question when a client's legal team asks where customer data lives and who can reach it.

Nimbu is built by Zenjoy, a Belgian company under EU jurisdiction regulated by the APD. Customer data is hosted in the EU. Consent ships with the platform: drop one Liquid tag and a privacy-first banner is live, served from Nimbu's CDN on day one. Sensitive customer fields are encrypted at rest with keys held in the EU.

  • Belgian company under APD and EU law EU law is the law that applies to your client's data.
  • Native consent with one Liquid tag Replaces a third-party CMP and a class of audit risk.
  • Sensitive fields encrypted with EU-held keys Field-level. Not a US parent company under the CLOUD Act.

Being honest

What Webflow does better

For purely design-led marketing work, Webflow is often the right tool, and we'd tell a client so.

Visual design canvas

Best-in-class pixel-accurate layouts built directly in the browser. Hands-on control over typography, spacing, and responsive behavior that a templating workflow doesn't match.

Animation and interactions

Scroll effects, transitions, and micro-interactions built visually. Work that would be custom front-end code elsewhere is done fast in Webflow's tooling.

Figma to web

For design-led teams moving from a high-fidelity comp to a live marketing site, the Figma-to-Webflow path is short and well-supported.

Nimbu fits when design freedom and platform depth both matter

If your work is purely design-led marketing sites with no commerce, no real multilingual, and no data-jurisdiction questions, Webflow may already be the right tool. Keep it.

The case for Nimbu starts when the same client build also has to sell, speak several languages, or pass a procurement review.

01

Agencies running many client sites

One platform to learn rather than re-stitch a stack on every project. Shared data model, one CLI, one update cycle, one support queue.

02

Builds that need commerce and content together

Products, orders, customer groups, and the CMS all live in the same system. No Shopify sitting alongside your Webflow site.

03

Migration is content model first, then templates

Webflow's clean structure ports well to Liquid templates. Content and products move in over 200+ REST endpoints rather than by hand. We map the move on the call.

You don't rebuild the design thinking, only re-home it. We map the move with you on the call.

We moved a Webflow plus Shopify build onto one Nimbu site and cut the moving parts in half. Commerce, content, and the EU data answer are all in one place now.
